About NIFTY
Full form of NIFTY is National Stock Exchange Fifty. It represents the weighted average of 50 Indian company stocks across 12 sectors and is one of the two main stock indices used in India. The NIFTY 50 Index represents about 62.9% of the free float market capitalization of the stocks listed on NSE as on March 31, 2017. The index rebalancing is done semi-anually.
